Glass acts as a prism when light shines through it, splitting it into strands. It has the ability to expand on light, acting as a view into visually organised noise. We wanted to take that same concept and apply it to the rebranding of Al-Arabiya’s logo, by having it encapsulated in a cube of glass and use data as light that shines through to create a spectrum, neatly splitting it into organized streams of information.
Glass communicates clarity and transparency, showing the nuances in what it reflects and Al-Arabiya does the same with data - filtering details from the around world into focused streams and dividing them into a broad spectrum of shows that provide viewers with clear and balanced information and pushing the concept of reflecting noise and focusing on news.

We decided it was time to remake this iconic arabic typeface, and pursued the font designer who designed the original logo. After giving the brief and new modifications the final design resulted in an incredible new interpretation, perfectly suited for the modern world. All characters were placed within four horizontal lines giving the design a sleek and bold finish, making the font highly identifiable from the smallest device to the widest screen. It is the first ever font designed for multiplatform content with a unique English typeface in the structure of Arabic letters with clean and crisp brand colours, leaving no room for clutter.

Al Arabiya – Openers

We wanted to create a universe in which all main openers are connected through one unified platform with 8 individual visual identities created for the programs that include: News, Sport, Business, Panorama, Social, Layla, Muntaha Show and Hardtalk. Inspired by the core brand values we created the term “stream of information” to tell a visual story, telling the story of surging information transforming itself into forming the Al-Arabiya universe, shaping the iconic frames of each segment and bringing them to life. 

Each of these frameworks are connected to the main studio - a space designed to act as a main informational hub with windowed views into the endless cosmos that we know as Al-Arabiya.

Al Arabiya – Idents

The Idents we created for Al-Arabiya were shot all around the major arab capitals with drone-filmed hyperlapses, giving the viewer the feeling of gliding effortlessly along its highways and avenues. They revolve around perfect views of the city landmarks and everyday life bustling around you along the streets. A seamless transition from the lives of the audience at home to experiencing the arabic culture blossoming through beautifully shot footage. All idents finish with an end shot presenting the new Al-Arabiya logo as a floating landmark merging with the scenery of each city.

Al Arabiya – Studio

The Studio’s design was created to organically bridge the gap between the audience and what is shown on screen. The concept was inspired by the idea of having the universe of Al-Arabiya visible through the windows of the studio, with the studio being in the center to give the audience a great view into the various opening titles of the shows, and the feeling of being at the center of the information.  The studio utilizes clear glass and quartz material, and in doing so we created a connected identity that is consistent both conceptually and practically.

Al Arabiya – Web

Al-Arabiya is synonymous with great news coverage and we wanted to take that same quality in reporting to their online platform. In collaboration with IBM IX, MYREZE got to work on creating concepts for how Al-Arabiya can present their reports on a website that maintained its core values. 
Continuing on our concept of a clear and transparent space, we designed a web interface that displays information to the reader as effortlessly as possible.  The result is an online presentation of news and media that is uncluttered and modern, leaving no room for distraction and keeps its focus on the headlines - A clear expression that invites the reader into its stories in an open layout that merges perfectly with Al-Arabiya’s new design.
